MITP Senior Postdoctoral Fellowships in Theoretical Physics

Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics (MITP) invites nominations for the MITP Senior Postdoctoral Fellowships in Theoretical Physics. These 3-year positions target experienced postdoctoral researchers in the fields of particle and astroparticle physics, hadron physics and cosmology, who show a high potential for becoming future scientific leaders. Nominees should be scientists of exceptional ability and with a proven record of accomplishments.

Candidates need to be nominated by a faculty member or a senior researcher in one of the above-mentioned fields by completing a nomination form.

Self-nominations are not accepted. A letter of reference is not required at the time of nomination. The nominee will be contacted by MITP and asked to submit all application materials by end of October. Recommendation letters will also have to be submitted by this date.

The MITP Senior Postdoctoral Fellowships offer unique career development opportunities in an attractive research environment within the PRISMA+ Cluster of Excellence at Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU). The fellows will have access to the MITP scientific programs and workshops, offering a broad range of unique networking opportunities not available at other institutions.

The selection of the MITP Senior Postdoctoral Fellows will be done by a committee consisting of faculty members of JGU in consultation with the International MITP Advisory Board. The selected fellows will receive a competitive salary and be completely independent in their research. They will also be provided with discretionary research funds of 10.000 Euro per year, which can be used e.g. to cover travel expenses, organize collaboration meetings and workshops, or buy equipment. The fellowship further includes an active faculty mentoring.

The nomination period for Fellowships 2024-2027 is over. Next nomination period will be in fall 2024 for 2025-2028.
